In my audio work, I create otherworldly soundscapes using elements captured from the surrounding environment. I incorporate videotaped screen grabs and still photographs that I transfigure into the sonic realm, using the computer to manipulate and transform them. The new sounds created by this process originate in the natural world, but are far removed from our direct experience or recognition of them. I then employ a wide palette of sonic materials which are assembled into layered compositions that resonate as both familiar and alien. Most of my sound compositions include some element of chance or indeterminacy, either through use of a graphic score, or within the genesis of the source material itself.
