The Last Tree travels to Burchfield Center

Babs Reingold’s installation The Last Tree has another showing at the Burchfield Penney Art Center in Buffalo, NY. I composed the soundtrack for the video component. The show will be up until February.

The Last Tree

Grand Central Above/At/Below at Light Moves Festival

The multi sound and video installation Tomorrow, Today Will Be Yesterday by Rui Almeida will be part of the Light Moves festival in Limerick, Ireland. The installation randomly pairs sound pieces from numerous composers with video clips.

Sound artists from all over the world were invited to create a sound piece and video/photos, where the sound would be presented, followed by the images.  With the images presented randomly, the suggestion is to explore the way that sounds shape visuals and vice-versa.

Hydrophonic Hymn included in Radiophrenia

My sound composition Hydrophonic Hymn is part of this two week sound art radio broadcast in Glasgow. You can tune in to stream here. Hydrophonic Hymn is part of the Shorts 10 program.

Radiophrenia is a temporary art radio station – a two-week exploration into current trends in sound and transmission arts. Broadcasting live from Glasgow’s Centre for Contemporary Arts, the station aims to promote radio as an art form, encouraging challenging and radical new approaches to the medium.

Peggy Guggenheim Art Addict at Lincoln Center

There are a few more days to catch a showing of Peggy Guggenheim Art Addict, a really interesting documentary film. I’m biased because I wrote some music for it, but if you have any interest in the art world and artists, it is a fascinating portrait of a famous woman collector and an amazing time in history.

“Grand Central Above, At, Below” part of installation at CAAA

This sound art program will now be presented as an installation in Guimarães, Portugal.

Peggy Guggenheim: Art Addict opens in select markets

The final version of this documentary film about art collector Peggy Guggenheim has been released in the US. It is a fascinating portrait of this unique woman and the era. I provided some additional music and had a blast working with the team on developing it. You can view the trailer and find screening information at their website.

60×60 Dance at Brookfield Place

Vox Novus and Arts Brookfield presented 60×60 Dance at Brookfield Place on October 23rd. Sixty one minute compositions were paired with 60 one minute dances. My short piece using only a short wave radio was paired with a dance by J.A.M. I was out of town for the performance but there is a good review of the event HERE.

White Shred/Black Shred scores selected for AFTERSOUND

The scores for White Shred and Black Shred will be exhibited as part of the AFTERSOUND: FREQUENCY, ATTACK, RETURN exhibition at Carnegie Melon University curated by Melissa Ragonaand Margaret Cox. The exhibition looks fantastic and will have an online component. Here are some words about the exhibition from the curators: Sound has entered contemporary art in profound and unexpected ways. This exhibition explores sound’s infiltration into contemporary discussions of aural and visual culture, with a particular focus on sound visualization, the physics of sound, political uses of sound, i.e. sonic warfare and DIY, as well as the resurgence of neo-metaphysical experiments with sound as a portal to new sensory experiences.
